This is what the Father wants for you in Yeshua (Jesus, the Christ, is a Greek translation of his name): from 1Thessalonians 5, the 1st letter of Paul to the Messianic community in Thessalonica, translated in plain English we see repeating threads of the Sh'ma.
Brothers, we don't need to write you about dates and times, because you know very well that the Day of the Lord will come, like a robber in the night. People will say, ?Things are peaceful and safe.? That's when destruction will suddenly hit them. It will be like when the birth pain comes to a pregnant woman. They won't be able to run away. But, brothers, you are not in the dark. That Day will not surprise you as a robber does. All of you are sons of light and sons of daytime. We do not belong with the night or darkness.
1. So, we should not be asleep like others are.
No, we should be awake and alert. Sleepers sleep at night; drinkers get drunk at night, but we belong with the daytime.
2. We should be alert. 3. Put on faith and love for your chest-plate, and for your helmet put on the hope of salvation.
The Father did not plan for us to be punished, but to have salvation through our Saviour Yeshua. Whether we are awake or asleep, Yeshua died for us, so that we will live together with him.
4. So, comfort one another. 5. Continue building each other up, just as you are doing now. 6. Brothers, we beg you to respect those who are working hard among you.
They are leading you in Yeshua and warning you.
7. Because of their work, treat them with the greatest honor in love. 8. Be at peace with one another. Brothers, we beg you, warn those who are lazy. 9. Comfort people who are afraid. 10. Help the weaker ones. 11. Be patient with everyone. 12. Be sure that no one pays back wrong with a wrong. Instead, always try to do good to one another and to everyone. 13. Always be happy. 14. Pray continually. 15. Thank the Father at all times.
(all) This is what the Father wants for you in Yeshua.
16. Don't put out the Spirit. 17. Don't think prophecy is unimportant. 18. Test everything; keep what is good. 19. Stay away from every kind of evil--even from what looks like evil.
The Father of peace Himself will make you completely holy. May He keep your spirit, soul, and body whole without guilt until our Saviour Yeshua comes. And, he will come. The Father is the One who calls you. He is faithful.
20. Brothers, pray for us also. 21. Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss. 22. I order you by the Father, to have this letter read to all the brothers.
May the gracious love of our Saviour Yeshua be with you.
