Pathway to the Sabbath  by Rabbi Bob Benbow
A Guide to Understanding and Emulating God’s Work
Week in Relation to Preparing for the Sabbath

It’s been said the Shabbat is the identity of His people, its
their calling card, so to speak. It’s also been said that we
don’t keep Shabbat, it keeps us. I would have to agree
with both statements. So, in hopes of extracting the most
spiritual benefit from that miraculous appointment of the
LORD, this study guide was written.

Yom—Day 5—Chameeshee
Grace
Number five—denotes Divine Grace. It is 4+1, telling us that God is transferring His gifts and blessings to the works of His hands.
The Hebrew word Ha’arets (the earth) has the numerical value of the letters together with a multiple of four, while Hashamayim (the heavens)
is a multiple of five. The Greek for grace is also a multiple of five and is the leading factor in the Tabernacle measurements.

Day 5 (Behold) ['the', to reveal] 5 = Grace "the heavens" "Ha shamayim" "was" "hiyah."

God created the living creatures that would live in the waters, and those that would fly in the heavens, and God blessed them. This is the first
time that God gave a blessing to them and said, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas; but the fowl shall increase on the
earth." (Genesis. 1:22)

God gives His grace to His created ones; may we think of giving blessing back to Him, and thanking Him for all He has made and how we may
bless those around us. Honor your parents. Honor one another. Honor God. Seek ways to draw closer to Him, and to multiply what He has
given us, so that we become fruitful and increase in word and deed.

He gave specific areas to each of His creation. Look at where you are and how you can be fruitful and multiply blessing in that area. How can
you be a blessing? Each is created for a particular function, and no one else will be able to fulfill that for what each is created for. If you do
not do your part, God will bring about what He wants done in another way, but there will be a blessing lost. Yet, His grace is sufficient. Today,
examine your ways and works before Him. Are they complete and perfect before Him? Remember what you have learned, hold on to truth,
repent of fleshly works and be a watchman. The days are drawing to a close- only one more to go-to get the work done.
Genesis 1:20-23—God said, "Let the waters teem with teeming living creatures, and fowl that fly about over the earth across the expanse of
the heavens." And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their
kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the
waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Exodus 20:12—"Honor your father and your mother, so that your days will be lengthened upon the land that HASHEM, your God, gives you."
Five is God’s number of blessing where we recall five Levitical offerings (Leviticus 1-5), and five Israelites to chase 100 enemies (Leviticus 26:
8); five wise virgins (Matthew 25:2) and five barley loaves used by Yeshua to feed the 5,000 (Matthew 14:17).

The number five is the number of freedom and action, where grace will grow within you by experience through the administrator (i.e. the
Rauch HaKodesh). Grace directs us to where the fountain of God can bring forth fruitfulness, multiply, replenish, and subdue the undertaking
of your Godly endeavors. The number of grace when one enters in will give power of observation, enthusiasm, a desire to understand
spiritual things and empower one to progress and move forward. Grace gives us freedom of thought, freedom of action, and freedom of
worship, emphasizing the finer spiritual qualities of the nature of God within. The end result of grace promotes growth, stability, dependability,
and supports permanent and lasting Holiness within us. It’s important to remember that the fifth day brings progress and growth, which brings
happiness and success through Godly endeavors when we chose the blessings it brings.

Grace brings balance to the Torah and gives one the ability to formulate and regulate the legal side to the Word of God. One must watch out
for the other side of this number as it will give us a false sense that we can “enter in where Angels fear to tread,” where problems can often be
blamed on others or things going on around us.  This then leads one to extremes, shows hurtful temper, haste and undisciplined impulse,
quarrels, and can cause irritation and impatient action and speech.

The greatest understanding of grace is the power that it can bring to the fifth day where it becomes the “The Gift of Power.” In the B'rit
hadashah (Renewed Testament), when looking at the word “grace,” you will find that it is very hard to narrow this word down to a single
doctrine.  It cannot be done.  Grace can express “charm of speech,” and “thankfulness for blessings.”

The reason is that in the Greek, the word is very elastic, having various meanings.  In some cases the word charis (translated as grace) may
mean, “a gift.”  In 1 Corinthians 16:3 and 2 Corinthians 8:19, it is the money given by the Corinthians to the Jerusalemites.  In 2 Corinthians 9:
8, it is the increase of worldly goods that God grants for charitable purposes. In 2 Corinthians 1:15, the term is used to express a visit by
Sha'ul (Paul) to the benefit received by the Corinthians.

In a more spiritual sense, charis is the gift for an office in the church (Ephesians 4:7).  In 1 Peter 1:13, charis is the future heavenly
blessedness that we are to receive, or the present gift of “Life” in 3:7.  When looking at the Word of God from the Greek, we find that
sometimes the word is very weak in its expression.  It also translated into a characteristic of its meaning as though it denote a pleasant
external appearance, “gracefulness, loveliness,” and being expressed in the context by the charm of his word (Colossians 4:6).
